Out-Of-This-World Valentine’s Day Desserts

Here are some of Valentine’s Day ideas for dessert

Chocolate Kiss Brownie Bites Recipe

Makes: 4 dozen

Serving Size: 3 brownie bites

Adapted from Hershey’s “Melt away Brownie Bites” recipe

Ingredients:

48 chocolate kisses

2/3 cup butter, softened

1-1/4 cups granulated sugar

1 tablespoon water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cocoa

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Powdered sugar

Nutella

1.) Remove wrappers from chocolates; place in freezer.

2.) Beat butter, granulated sugar, water and vanilla in large bowl on medium speed of mixer until well blended. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, cocoa, and baking soda. Slowly add to sugar mixture, beating lightly until blended. Cover; refrigerate dough about two hours or until firm.

3.) Heat oven to 350°F. Line 48 miniature muffin cups (1-3/4 inches in diameter) with mini muffin tins. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place in prepared muffin cups.

4.) Bake 10-12 minutes or until the tops are set. The cookies will be soft and moist. Don’t over bake. Cool for 5 minutes on a wire rack. Dust tops with powdered sugar. Press one frozen kiss into each cookie. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

5.) Melt Nutella in a microwave safe bowl. Drizzle over brownie bites.

About the recipe: I stumbled across this recipe while looking for a variation on traditional brownies, and tweaked it to fit my taste buds. If you’re looking for something besides cheesecake or pie to make this Valentine’s, these bite-size brownies fit the bill! Each tiny brownie is bursting with chocolate goodness. You can top the mini desserts with chocolate kisses or miniature peanut butter cups. I came across a similar recipe on Real Simple’s site. Both recipes are great, so I’m including a link in case you want to make the other variation (more of a cake-type recipe topped with caramel and whipped topping.)
