Serving size: 2 mini pies
Adapted from Wonky Wonderful “Cherry and Nutella Hand Pies” recipe
1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
2-3 tablespoons tart cherry preserves
2-3 tablespoons Nutella
½ cup powdered sugar
2-3 teaspoons hot water
1.) Preheat oven to 350°.
2.) Let both pie crusts sit out at room temperature for 15 minutes.
3.) Unroll crusts. Use a glass to cut out desired shapes.
4.) Transfer half of the circles to a greased cookie sheet.
5.) Spread about 1 teaspoon of Nutella on the pie crust circles that are on the cookie sheet. Don’t spread all the way to the edges or they’ll spill out while baking.
About this recipe: You can never go wrong with Nutella! These adorable hand pies are perfect for a Valentine’s food gift. You can use other types of jam if desired (raspberry is my second favorite.)
6.) Top Nutella with 1 teaspoon cherry preserves. Once again, make sure not to add too much or the ingredients will spill out of the pies while baking.
6.) Top the filled crusts with the remaining pie crust circles.
7.) Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges.
8.) Brush the top of each pie with heavy cream.
9.) Bake at 350° for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown.
10.) Allow pies to cool for about 5 minutes before glazing. To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar and water. Drizzle it over the pies.
